After temporary split at the time of recording Getz/Gilberto
#2 João and Stan rejoined forces in 1976 with João's
second wife Miucha on this album. It brings out some of the most beautiful
Antonio
Carlos Jobim's songs in a wonderful João's interpretation Retrato
em Branco e Preto, Ligia and Aguas de Março. The last
one is quite similar to the one from famous João's White
Album. Also common to those two albums are Izaura,
E Precisoo
Perdoar and Gilberto Gil's Eu Vim da Bahia.
Whoever likes Getz's saxophone will probably prefer this album, while the
others might choose the other one, but it pays off to have both. This is
a 'historic' last Getz-Gilberto recording. The interpretations are also
enhanced with a beautiful and soft voice of Miucha and cool arrangements
that also remind to other João's album that consist basically of
João's voice, guitar and percusion, here accompanied by Miucha and
Getz. The opening
Chovendo na Roseira (Double Rainbow), another
great Jobim's song in which Jobim that supposedly cites Debussy, one of
his big influences, reveals cool and sensitive spirit of this album. Addition
to cool bossa nova sound is nice version of Cole Porter's Just One of
Those Things.
