This great CD contains perhaps the two greatest albums Joao ever made. The
first one is called Amoroso and contains 8 tracks, from 'S Wonderful
to Zingaro,
while the second part comes from album Brasil,
where Joao meets Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Maria Bethania. Amoroso
is regarded as Joao's highest vocal achievement, beautifully orchestrated
by Claus Ogerman and it contains probably most beautiful version of Zingaro,
also known as Retrato em Branco e Preto. Album Brasil is highly
respected in Brazil and besides the 'definitive' version of Ary Barroso's
Aquarela
do Brasil it containes beautiful sambas from Ary Barroso, Dorival Caymmi
and Denis Brean, as well as Haroldo Barbosa's Portuguese version of Seymour
Simon's jazz standard All of Me - Disse Alguem.
Shortly this is,
or better to say these are two of the most important bossa nova albums
from 70's-80's period.
