Among the legendary Bossa Nova recordings, this one clearly stands out
as unique, although it was followed by a second attempt to create Sinatra-Jobim
record, that unfortunately resulted with a strange decision from WB to
release Sinatra&Co. album, half of which was made by songs from Jobim
and the other half from John Denver (!??). Therefore this album remains
the only complete Sinatra's Bossa Nova album. Frank Sinatra, Tom Jobim
and arranger Claus Ogerman were clearly the winning combinantion, and it
gave a second punch towards the great popularity of songs like Garota
de Ipanema, Insensatez, Corcovado and others. Sinatra's
soft cool voice, that seem as if it was made for singing these songs, is
contrasted by dramatic Ogerman's arrangements. A great recording!
