For someone that looks for just a few Brazilian CDs, this one should
certainly be among them, probably with Getz/Gilberto,
Amoroso/Brasil,
Jazz Samba and Jazz Samba Encore! Not
to say there aren't others, but this album is clearly vocal and interpretative
peak of a great Brazilian singer Elis Regina. It is also one of the best
valued Bossa Nova album among jazz fans and critics. Together with superstars
Elis and Tom, Oscar Castro Neves appears on a guitar and Cesar Camargo
Mariano on a piano as well as an arranger. Many of the historic recording
Bossa compilations include tracks from this album, mainly Aguas de Marco,
Chovendo Na Roseira and Triste, but this album also includes less known
but equally beautiful Jobim's songs: Inutil Paisagem, So Tinha De Ser Com
Você, Brigas Nunca Mais and O Que Tinha De Ser. Great selection of
tracks, great interpretation, great arrangements, great album. A must have.
